The series is open to International One Design boats, owned by the Nantucket International One Design Fleet Association, Inc. All skippers must be Regular Members of the Nantucket Yacht Club or be officially approved by the Nantucket Yacht Club as a monthly or seasonal Racing Guest. Skippers must be either members of the NIODFA or Approved Substitute Skippers, pursuant to the NIODFA By-Laws.

Boats entered in the NYC August Series are welcome to race but will not qualify for NRW trophies unless they register for this event.

The J/70 is the Island’s newest one-design fleet. Racing every Sunday together with the IOD’s, the J/70 offers local sailors the opportunity to enjoy zipping around Nantucket Sound on a modern sportboat, featuring an asymmetrical spinnaker that launches the boats onto high-speed planes in our brisk sea breezes.

The J/70 class has achieved international popularity over the past decade, as it offers high performance in a package that’s comfortable and accessible. It’s a platform that challenges top sailors around the world while being easy to learn for newcomers to the class.
