Photographer Kos Evans Brings Groundbreaking Sail Art Exhibition to Nantucket Race Week for Its U.S. Debut
Rock & Royals — featuring sails once owned by JFK, Pete Townshend, King Juan Carlos of Spain, and the Duke of Edinburgh, and more — makes its American premiere at the Thomas Macy Warehouse during Nantucket Race Week
About Rock & Royals
Rock & Royals is an extraordinary body of sail art — breathtaking, one-of-a-kind works created from historic sails that once belonged to rock legends, royalty, and sailing icons. Each piece fuses photography, history, and artistry, printed directly onto rare and fragile sailcloth that carries with it decades of wind, sea, and story.
The collection made its world debut to international acclaim at the Yacht Club de Monaco during Monaco Classic Week in September 2025, earning major features in Forbes Magazine and widespread recognition across the sailing and art worlds. Nantucket Race Week 2026 marks its first exhibition in the United States.

About Kos Evans
Kos Evans has spent more than four decades capturing the drama and beauty of the world's oceans through her lens. Her sail art practice grew from a deep reverence for the sea and for the profound historical significance of sails — engines of discovery, trade, and human ambition across centuries.
Her previous exhibition, Carbon Canvas, drew on sails from legendary America's Cup yachts and launched to wide acclaim at the most recent America's Cup in Barcelona.
"Each sail carries silent stories of exploration, conquest, and personal adventure. Rock & Royals is about preserving that rich heritage as a unique art form, ensuring these stories resonate for generations to come." - Kos Evans
A Natural Homecoming
Nantucket Race Week — now in its 23rd year — draws approximately 3,000 sailors, families, and enthusiasts to the island each August. As the flagship fundraiser for Nantucket Community Sailing, it supports our mission to provide accessible sailing and foster respect for the marine environment across our entire community.
"Kos Evans' work sits at the intersection of sailing history, fine art, and the legendary figures who have always been drawn to the sea. Bringing Rock & Royals to Nantucket for its American debut, during Race Week, feels like a perfect homecoming for this work." — Diana Brown, Nantucket Community Sailing
We are honored to host Kos and to have NCS be a beneficiary of her exhibit. The exhibition will be free and open to the public beginning August 13 at the Thomas Macy Warehouse on Nantucket's waterfront.
